LeasePlan launches platform for ‘smart’ charging of EVs

LeasePlan will launch LeasePlan Energy this Thursday, a new platform that enables EV drivers to charge their EVs smartly at times when the supply is high and the electricity price is low. LeasePlan works together with start-up PowerD and has also taken a majority stake in this company to realise LeasePlan Energy. Media such as de Volkskrant (login) and Duurzaam Bedrijfsleven write that about 10 percent of the fleet of LeasePlan is currently electric, which amounts to some 18,000 EVs, according to Erik Henstra, Managing Director at LeasePlan the Netherlands.

It is furthermore noted that LeasePlan aims for a completely emission-free fleet by 2030. The media also cite Henstra: “As the largest market player, we cannot sit back. We want to play an active role in combating climate change and making mobility emission-free.”
